SUV Driver Sought In Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Police have asked the public’s help in locating the driver of an SUV who allegedly fled the scene of a deadly motorcycle crash on Interstate 24 East.

The crash happened Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. at mile marker 59 near Bell Road.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 21-year-old Jacob Steelman, of La Vergne, was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a guardrail.

He died at the scene.

According to witnesses, Steelman appeared to have been racing an SUV prior to the crash. 

Police said that driver got out and searched Steelman’s pockets before fleeing.

There was no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the scene.
