Students with Middle Tennessee State University spent a morning planting hundreds of tree seedlings in an effort to help the environment.

Student volunteers planted between 200 and 300 tree seedlings along the Stones River near the MTSU Dairy Farm on Saturday.

The purpose was to help stop erosion along the banks of the east fork of the river.

The blooms from the trees will also help provide nectar for the bees in the school's bee program.
