When it comes to women in business, the Nashville area has been named number one.

A WalletHub report ranked the Nashville/Davidson County and Murfreesboro/Franklin area as number one for women-owned businesses when compared with other large metro areas.

Saturday, a training session was held for entrepreneurs, put on by MDHA.

The session was open to everyone and was comprised of a series of about eight classes taught by local business experts.

Tamaria Smith, a local entrepreneur, said she’s learned a lot.

“I've learned how to narrow down my target market,” Smith said. “I know now who exactly my target market is. I’ve learned how to do a budget for my business. I built my first website. I have my first website now. I’m just really learning how to be more confident in what I’m doing and go out and really market what I’m doing.”

There were two sessions left in this series, but the classes were set to be offered again for the next two years.

The classes were free of charge. For more information, click here.
