New Year's Eve Plans Underway In Music City

Posted

With the countdown on to the New Year, Music City has been getting ready for the celebration.

Officials said Broadway will be packed with thousands of people waiting for the big music note to drop.

NewsChannel 5 got a sneak peek of the music note Thursday.

It was assembly day. All of the pieces were put into place, and the lights were tested.

"We get so excited every time we see the note up there ready to drop, and it's going to be higher this year,” said Deana Ivey, Chief Marketing Officer of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “It's on a higher tower. We started at 115 feet, then we went to 125 last year. This year we're at a 145 foot drop, so it will be huge. It'll be exciting."

Jack Daniel's Bash on Broadway has been going on for six years and has coincided with the Music City Bowl.

Last year, 130,000 people attended. Organizers said they have been expecting at least 20,000 more this year.

Kings of Leon has been set to headline the concert this year, and they have promised to keep playing well after midnight.
