Off-Campus Incident Prompts Precautions At Franklin Schools

A domestic incident prompted three schools with the Franklin Special School District to undergo a shelter-in-place on Wednesday.

Officials with Franklin Police said the precautions were taken at Poplar Grove Elementary and Middle schools and Freedom Middle School.

The shelter-in-place was prompted by an off-campus domestic incident.

According to reports, the dispute could have possibly resulted in a student being picked up from Freedom Middle School by a parent who did not have permission to pick them up. No one ever came to the school.

Police said the issue was resolved within an hour, and they confirmed classes had continued as usual throughout the incident. The precaution only meant no one was allowed in or out.

The district said all students are safe.
