A ban on open burning in Rutherford County has been lifted.
Authorities confirmed Friday they had lifted the ban on open burning; however, they said everyone was still required to have a permit to open burn during this time of the year - between October 15 and May 15.
According to state law, permits must be obtained from the Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry before any open burning occurs.
Officials said the permits were free and can be obtained by calling 1-877-350-2876.
