Open Burning Banned In Brentwood Due To Drought

Posted

The city of Brentwood has issued a ban on open burning due to persistent drought conditions.

Authorities in Brentwood said they’ve suspended issuing burn permits and have prohibited open burning.

The ban has been set to last until further notice when areas receive measurable rainfall.

Officials added that “prolonged dry weather and frequent breezy conditions” have meant it has not been safe to conduct the permit-required open burning.

Commercial business have been considered exempt from the ban if they use air curtain destructors under supervised, controlled environments.

This ban meant Brentwood joined nearby cities, like Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and others, that have made similar moves.

Those with the Brentwood Fire Department have planned to continue to monitor conditions. They said they will notify residents and businesses when the ban on burning has been lifted.
