For those who have ever parked at the overflow lot at Percy Warner Park, get prepared for some changes.
The parking area near Page Road and Belle Meade Boulevard has been used for about 15 years, and the mayor of Belle Meade, Jim Hunt, said it’s causing a lot of wear and tear on the grass.
Starting in November, people will have to park elsewhere, and in the meantime, those with Metro Parks have been set to replace the cars with trees.
"We've been working on this for four years, and it's been an inconvenience to the neighbors who live around here, but we realize the popularity of the parking here so that's the reason for creating additional parking,” Hunt said.
Metro Parks has created another parking area for about 300 cars behind the Percy Warner Golf Clubhouse.
