A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a vehicle on U.S. Route 41.

Officials said they responded to the scene around 12:17 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 41, also known as Lowry Street, at Washington Street.

Authorities said a silver 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 41-year-old James Hollon was traveling south when a man walked into the vehicle’s path.

According to reports, Hollon was not injured. The pedestrian, 48-year-old Richard Dunivant, had non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

After an initial investigation, authorities said Dunivant may have been intoxicated when the incident occurred.

Officials said they were awaiting the results of toxicology tests for both Hollon and Dunivant.
