A suspect accused of assaulting a man in Nashville allegedly accused him of being a terrorist before attacking him.

According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, the victim was walking from his car to an apartment on Old Hickory Boulevard when Caleb Spencer walked up to him and asked if he was going to plant a bomb.

At that time, Spencer allegedly accused him of being a terrorist.

The victim, who is of Middle Eastern descent, told him he's here for school and didn't want any problems.

Spencer then shoved him to the ground and started beating him, the police report stated.

Video of the alleged beating was apparently captured on a witness’s cell phone, which is now being reviewed as evidence in the case.

Spencer has been charged with assault; however, those charges could be upgraded to a hate crime.
