An investigation got underway after at least two people, one of whom was a teenager, were shot in north Nashville.

The first incident was reported around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of 16th Avenue North.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said a 16-year-old was fighting with three friends, in what they called an attempted robbery.

At that time, detectives said the victim pulled out a handgun and accidentally shot himself in the leg. He then fired at the alleged robbery suspects.

The investigation continues; however, evidence supports the victim's wound is a self-inflicted gunshot. He's expected to recover.

Police have yet to identify the three alleged robbery suspects.

Not long after, a 28-year-old showed up at an area hospital, saying he was shot during an argument half a mile away outside a market.

He's expected to be okay but is not cooperating with police. No suspects have been taken into custody.

Detectives said it's not clear if these two incidents are related.
