Police were called to an area south of downtown Nashville after a gunshot victim was found early Monday morning.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said someone heard gunshots and called 911 shortly before 5:30 a.m.
Officers responded to the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Lafayette Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

However, investigators said that location is not the crime scene. At this time, police said it’s unclear where the person was shot.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Authorities were on scene searching for shell casings and additional evidence.
