A man has been arrested after he allegedly walked into an area hospital and claimed that he stabbed someone at Fort Negley.

The incident happened late Wednesday night at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said Robert Deiter walked inside with his hands in the air and declared he was not armed.

He reportedly went on to say that he’d just stabbed a man multiple times moments earlier during an argument at Fort Negley.

According to police, Deiter said he didn't like what the man said so he pulled out a knife to stab the victim in the back and shoulder.

Officers never found the knife but located the victim at Fort Negley. That person is expected to survive.

According to his arrest warrant, Deiter admitted to drinking too much earlier in the evening.

Deiter was arrested and is facing several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and public intoxication.
