GALLATIN, Tenn. –Police said a wanted motorcycle thief escalated to violence in a similar case in southern Kentucky.

Officials with the Gallatin Police Department said two suspects stole a black, 2005 Harley Davidson Road Glide from a victim who listed the motorcycle on Craigslist on Wednesday, February 19.

The victim told police the suspect responded to the advertisement, and took the motorcycle for a test drive but did not return to the residence. According to police, a second suspect hiding in the vehicle got in the driver's seat of the vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect was described as a black male, around six-foot-two-inches tall and was seen driving a 2004 or 2005 Black GMC SUV.

Gallatin Police worked a similar report on October 10, 2013, with same suspect and suspect vehicle description.

Police said similar thefts of Harley Davidson motorcycles have been reported on February 9 in Lafayette, as well as Bowling Green, Kentucky on January 20.

When the victim in the Kentucky case refused to let the suspect test drive the motorcycle, the man shot him in the leg and then stole the motorcycle.

Police said the robber was operating a yellow Ford Mustang in one of the other incidents and may also be operating a red Nissan Titan P/U with large, possibly 26-inch, rims.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Gallatin Police Department at (615)452-1313.
