A driver has been arrested after leading officials on a multi-county pursuit with a 2-year-old in the backseat.

Authorities said the pursuit began Saturday morning in Putnam County when a trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol tried to stop a blue Nissan Maxima that was speeding on Interstate 40 near mile marker 273.

Reports stated the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Dontre Antonio Woodruff, fled from the trooper at a high rate of speed.

Woodruff led authorities from Putnam, Smith, Wilson, and Davidson counties on the chase that ended in Davidson County.

Officials said spike strips were deployed multiple times in Wilson and Davidson counties.

Woodruff left Interstate 40 at Exit 219, which was when the pursuit continued north on US 70/Lebanon Pike.

Authorities lost sight of the vehicle, but Woodruff crashed on Lebanon Pike.

Woodruff and an adult passenger had minor injuries. Both also had revoked license.

The 2-year-old was not injured.

Woodruff was arrested and taken back to Putnam County. He was charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license.
