Shelters and an evacuation center have been opened by the Tennessee Red Cross following severe weather.
According to those with the Red Cross, the following shelters have been made available:
- Stewart County -Big Rock Baptist Church (Clean-Up Kits being distributed) and Big Rock Fire Station (Evacuation Center)
- Sumner County - Hartsville Pike Church of Christ (Shelter)
- Houston County - Tennessee Ridge Independent Baptist Church (Shelter)
Red Cross officials also released the following list of tips for families to prepare for disasters like flooding:

- Create and practice a Disaster Plan
- Assemble an Emergency Preparedness Kit
- Heed Flood Warnings
- Relocate During Flood Warnings
- Keep children and pets out of the water, as they are curious and can be harmed by flowing or contaminated water.
- Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize flood danger.
