Troopers with the Kentucky State Police have opened an investigation after remains, that may be human, were found in Trigg County, Kentucky.

The remains were found before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on Oak Grove Church Road by a property owner on that road.

Authorities gathered the remains and turned them over to Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson.

According to reports, the remains were set to be examined by the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials said they would be determining the origin of the remains.

Reports stated officials would determine the identity of the person if the remains are confirmed to be human.
