A police chase that started in Mt. Juliet ended with the suspect being taken into custody in Hermitage.

Officials with the Mt. Juliet Police Department said they received a report of a female being assaulted in a car at a restaurant on Monday night.

Authorities said they spotted the car around 9:30 p.m. Monday and pursued the vehicle to Old Hickory Boulevard near Interstate 40 in Hermitage.

The suspect reportedly tried to flee on foot, which was when an officer deployed a taser.

Reports stated the suspect resisted arrest. He also had a handgun in his waistband and threw illegal drugs away from the officer.

The suspect was reportedly taken to the hospital after being tased, but officials confirmed he was in custody.

Officials said the female with him confirmed she was assaulted by the suspect.

Authorities said the suspect was also wanted out of Nashville for domestic assault. No identities were released.
