A suspect arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence also behaved erratically during his arrest, according to police.

An affidavit from Metro Nashville Police said that officers initially responded to a crash on Brick Church Pike, where they found a car had smashed into a fence post.

The suspect reportedly admitted to drinking a bottle of champagne and smoking marijuana prior to the wreck.

A police report stated that as officers moved to take him into custody, he started scratching his arms, hopping around and making sounds reminiscent of a monkey.

He was eventually placed under arrest and officers learned that his license had been revoked. They also realized the car he was driving had been stolen.

The suspect told police he did not know the vehicle’s owner and refused to say where he found it.

Police said this was his first DUI.
