A Clarksville man was pulled from his burning apartment before eventually succumbing to his injuries Monday night.
The incident was reported shortly before 9 p.m. at the Waterbury Apartments on Madison Street.
Officials with Clarksville police said 69-year-old Michael Flamingo died after his apartment caught fire.
Neighbors apparently smelled smoke and called 911. They were able to force their way into the burning apartment and pull Flamingo from the unit.
Emergency responders tried to revive him but he was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The cause of the fire was not yet known. Police said there appears to be no signs of foul play.
