Scammers have, once again, begun targeting people across the mid-state, pretending to be with the IRS.
Officials with the Franklin Police Department and several other local agencies said they have received numerous reports of IRS imposters threatening people with arrest and property seizure unless they hand over hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Officials said the real IRS will never demand payment over the phone.
In addition, police said you should never transfer money to someone you don't know through wire services or prepaid cards.
Officials have urged anyone that has taken a call similar to this to call their local police department.
