Williamson County residents have been doing their part to help students impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Volunteers filled more than 250 backpacks with items like pencils, scissors, and glue for students in the Houston Independent School District.

The Tennessee Volunteers for Texas campaign was organized by Williamson County Schools, the Franklin Special School District, and Williamson County’s mayor.

Volunteers said the supplies will help students who lost everything.

“They lost a lot of supplies down there in the schools, too,” said John Kinnie. “These supplies will be collected and stored until they need it down there in Texas.”

For those wanting to donate, new and unpackaged supplies can be dropped off at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Labor Day through Saturday, September 9.

The following items have been needed:

  • Backpacks
  • Standard and College Ruled Paper
  • Crayons
  • #2 Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
