A wreck involving a tractor trailer has scattered debris along Interstate 40 West in Putnam County.
The incident happened shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday, at mile marker 281 not far from Cookeville.
It’s unclear what caused the semi to leave the roadway.
The truck apparently crashed into the woods on the side of the interstate. The impact of the collision seems to have split the trailer, causing its contents to spill.
An Emergency Management official said the truck was hauling IV fluid.
The westbound shoulder is currently blocked due to the crash.
Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said it could be noon before the truck is removed.
