The NewsChannel 5 weather team kicked off Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week by helping keep you safe.

People came out to Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday to hear meteorologists give presentations on various topics.

There were also booths set up with important weather safety information, and there was an opportunity to get weather radios programmed.

Participants said they learned a lot, but if you missed the event, there will be more opportunities to get weather radios during Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Another chance has been scheduled to take place at the Electronic Express on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro Friday afternoon, March 3.
