An alleged gunman was injured after being shot by a Metro Nashville Police officer outside a fire station in Madison.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Kevin Lillard. He will be arrested once he's discharged from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The call came in shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday as a shots fired incident on South Gallatin Pike.
The investigation spanned across three scenes – the first at an apartment complex at 333 South Gallatin Pike. Metro Nashville Police Spokesman Don Aaron said the initial gunfire occurred there.

Witnesses told police the gunfire happened after an argument between two men.
As officers were responding, Lillard reportedly fired shots outside a beauty supply store on Gallatin Pike. An unmarked police car being driven by Madison Precinct Flex Officer Eric Petlewski was struck three times, likely from bullets bouncing off the pavement.
From there, he fled up Madison Street towards Fire Station 31.
Field Training Officer Jason Sweeney, age 38, was first on the scene and spotted Lillard, who fled to the left side of the building.
Officer Sweeney rounded the corner and saw the suspect, who at that time allegedly pointed a gun at him. Sweeney fired once and struck Lillard in the midsection.
Metro Police Tweeted photos of the scene and said the gunman's pistol was found outside the fire station. Shattered glass was seen near the weapon.

Authorities said Sweeney, a seven-year veteran of the department, has been placed on routine assignment while the investigation continues.
Lillard was on probation for a 2015 evidence tampering conviction.
Police said he also has been convicted of two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of robbery, five counts of aggravated assault, one count of facilitation of second degree murder, and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.
Lillard would be charged with two counts of aggravated assault against police officers.
