A violent home invasion sent two people to the hospital, and police said the suspects used a gun and a sledgehammer.

The incident happened at a trailer in the 700 block of Chickasaw Avenue just after 1 a.m. Friday.

Two suspects used a sledgehammer to try and open the front door to the home in East Nashville.

One of the male victims opened the door, and that’s when the two suspects entered the home.

A fight ensued, and two victims were injured.

One was hit with the sledgehammer, and the other was shot once in his arm. Both were taken to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

One of the suspects was described as a man of 20 to 25 years old, standing around 6' tall with a thin build. He was wearing a white shirt and possibly blue pants.

The second suspect was described as a man of 20 to 25 years old who was dressed in all dark clothing.

Police said the incident took place not far from a now torn-down known drug house.

The investigation remained ongoing.
