Sparta Home Lost In Late Night Fire

A home was declared a total loss following a fire in Sparta.

The incident happened at a home in the 200 block of Old Highway Road around 9:46 p.m. Saturday.

Officials were initially notified of the fire by the homeowner who had returned home to find flames coming from the house.

Authorities said the home was fully involved with flames when crews arrived at the scene.

No injuries were reported in the fire, but the home was a total loss.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist the homeowner.

A cause for the fire had not been determined. The investigation remained ongoing.

Multiple departments responded to the scene including the Sparta Fire Department, as well as the BonDeCroft, Eastland, Cherry Creek, and Hickory Valley volunteer fire departments. Several other agencies assisted, as well.
