Officials in Mt. Juliet have been investigating following a chase that ended with a crash. Two people were injured.

Authorities with the Mt. Juliet Police Department said they were pursuing a stolen vehicle on Saturday evening when the wreck happened.

The incident began earlier when police responded to a call of a woman who had allegedly stolen items from Target.

The woman got into the passenger side of a truck, and when authorities checked out the truck, they discovered it was stolen out of Robertson County.

A chase ensued, and the man driving the truck attempted to pass vehicles, hitting another vehicle head-on in the area of Hobson Pike at Smith Springs Parkway in Antioch.

The citizen in the vehicle that was hit was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The woman in the suspect's vehicle who was originally involved in the Target incident was also injured. She was taken to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said the driver of the suspect's vehicle fled on foot. Authorities searched the area, but were unable to locate him. They said they do not believe he's still in that area.

Mt. Juliet officials said authorities from the Metro Nashville Police Department were assisting. Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were also at the scene to investigate the crash. The roadway was set to be closed in that area as they investigated.

Further details were not available as the investigation remained ongoing.
