A man was taken into custody following an early morning standoff in Sumner County.

Officials with Hendersonville Police said the 911 call initially came in around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

An alert was issued to nearby residents, giving them the option to either leave or stay inside their homes.

Investigators on the scene said 40-year-old Benjamin Freeman II was arrested after threatening to kill another man inside the home.

That person, whom Freeman allegedly assaulted,  was able to get out and call police.

A woman inside the home was later safely removed by officers.

Officers broke a window around 7:15 a.m. and threw a cell phone inside. Around that time, negotiators were able to talk with Freeman and convince him to come out voluntarily.

According to authorities, all of them had been drinking and none were cooperating with detectives.

He was charged with one count of aggravated assault and held on a $120,000 bond.
