Suspect Misidentified In Antioch Car Shooting

Authorities confirmed a man arrested in connection with a bizarre shooting that injured one in Antioch was misidentified.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Rural Hill Road and Bridgecrest Drive.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 30-year-old Vincent Gooden was arrested after he was misidentified by a witness at the scene for shooting Corvell Conley in the face while traveling in a car.

According to investigators, Conley was driving when witnesses saw the car make a sudden U-turn and hit a curb.

At that point, the car stopped and the suspect allegedly fled the scene with the weapon.

Conley fell out of the vehicle and crawled across the intersection for help.

Officers found him around the area.

Even though witnesses said he was the gunman, Gooden reportedly told detectives he was never involved.

Video showed Gooden on an MTA bus at the time of the shooting. Detectives said they were working to make sure Gooden was immediately released from jail. 

The 21-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital for gunshot wounds to his jaw and neck. He was expected to survive. Investigators had not yet been able to speak with him due to his medical condition.

The investigation was ongoing.
