The suspect accused of shooting Metro Councilman Loniel Greene, Jr. has been arrested in Mississippi.
Officials with Metro police said Monday that 19-year-old Brandon Hunt-Clark has been jailed for armed robbery in Grenada, located about 100 miles south of Memphis.
Greene was shot near a gas station on Oceola Avenue back on November 4. Hunt-Clark was later identified as one of two suspects in the case.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on November 10.
Hunt-Clark allegedly robbed the Granada Inn on December 10. He was arrested and held on a $100,000 bond.
He is believed to have been recently staying in the Grenada area, however, it's unknown if he has any family there.
Police said they have placed a hold/extradition request with Grenada authorities.
Councilman Greene released the following statement in response to the arrest:
“I am saddened to learn that this young man has continued down a troubled path of committing violent crimes. I hope he has an opportunity to turn his life around once he has been held accountable for his actions. I am confident that the Mayor’s Youth Summit will be a catalyst to finding innovative solutions to eliminate youth violence in our city as we work to save our youth.“
