Suspect Turns Himself In After Chase, Crash

A suspect has been arrested after turning himself in to officials following a police chase and crash in Mt. Juliet.

Authorities said 42-year-old Kevin D. Woodard turned himself in to police Wednesday morning.

According to reports, two people were injured when the police pursuit ended with a crash on Saturday. Woodard fled on foot.

Authorities with the Mt. Juliet Police Department said the incident began earlier that day when police responded to a call of a woman who had allegedly stolen items from Target.

The woman got into the passenger side of a truck, and when authorities checked out the truck, they discovered it was stolen out of Robertson County.

A chase ensued, and the man driving the truck, later identified as Woodard, attempted to pass vehicles, hitting another vehicle head-on in the area of Hobson Pike at Smith Springs Parkway in Antioch.

The citizen in the vehicle that was hit was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The woman in the suspect's vehicle who was originally involved in the Target incident was also injured. She was taken to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said Woodard fled on foot. Authorities searched the area, but were unable to locate him Saturday night.
