Crews have already begun prepping for what could be another round of wintry weather in Middle Tennessee.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for many eastern counties in our area ranging from Sumner County to Grundy County, and remains in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded to include the Highland Rim.

NewsChannel 5 meteorologist said people in those areas should expect single digit temperatures and a dusting of snow, but no serious accumulation.

Crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation got an early start on placing brine on the roadways. Workers were seen brining the highway on Interstate 24 Sunday afternoon.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that a blast of winter storms closed major roadways, stranded drivers and put Tennessee under a State of Emergency.

Because rain was expected leading up to that storm, crews were not able to brine the roads, which left a thin layer of ice underneath.

Although rain was projected to move through before Monday night’s snowfall, crews are still treating the roads.
