After receiving hundreds of entries, voting has been set to choose winners in the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Dynamic Message Sign Contest.
Those with TDOT said voting would begin February 16 and run through March 1. They added they received nearly 3,000 entries for possible safety messages.
The messages were set to be displayed on overhead signs located across the state.
Of the hundreds of entries, officials said they narrowed them down to 15 safety messages that cover issues like distracted driving, seatbelt usage, impaired driving, speeding, and aggressive driving.
The winning messages were set to be announced online a week after voting ends. Those messages will then be used on the signs statewide throughout the year.
A total of 190 message signs can be found in the states four urban areas: Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis, and Chattanooga.
