Labor statistics released by the state showed Davidson County has continued to have the lowest unemployment rate of any major metropolitan area in Tennessee.
A news release by the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development said unemployment rates decreased in 58 counties, increased in 11 counties, and remained the same in 26 for the month of May.
Preliminary figures showed the rate of unemployment in Davidson County in May was 2.9 percent.
Overall, preliminary figures showed Tennessee's unemployment rate for the month of May was 4.1 percent, down slightly from the previous month. Early figures put the he U.S. unemployment rate at 4.7 percent for the month of May.
