Curd Road in Mt. Juliet was closed south of Lebanon Road in both directions after a trailer hauling large equipment slipped off the road.
The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Friday.
The roadway was already closed from Parrish Place to Benders Ferry Road because of the heavy equipment moving in the area.
A photo tweeted by the Mt. Juliet Police Department showed a semi hauling an oversized load around a corner. The trailer seemed to have tipped or slid off the road.

Heavy rains had moved through the area less than an hour before and the road was still wet. It was not clear if the road conditions contributed to the incident.
Just after 6 p.m. authorities said the tractor trailer and equipment had been removed from the roadway and one of two lanes had been reopened.
One lane remained closed while crews repaired the roadway.
