UT Mistakenly Sends Acceptance To 22

Posted

The University of Tennessee has mistakenly sent acceptance letters to 22 students.

Spokeswoman Margie Nichols tells the Knoxville News Sentinel that some of the letters were sent to students who were going to be granted admission, while others were not.

Nichols would not say how many of the students who received the letters were not going to be granted admission to the state's flagship public university. She says admissions staff members were in the process of notifying applicants with "care and sensitivity" about the mistake.

Nichols said human error caused the letters to be sent and that the school "deeply regrets it."

The university sends out admissions letters on a rolling basis. The deadline for priority and scholarship admissions was Nov. 1, but the regular deadline is Dec. 1.
