A Metro Nashville Public school's football field was damaged overnight after vandals stole a school bus and went on a destructive joyride around campus.

Officers with Metro Nashville Police were called to Maplewood High School around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspects rammed through at least two fences to get to the football field, where they did donuts.

Part of the field was damaged during the incident. Pieces of the school bus, including the front grill, were scattered along the grass.

Police said once they were finished, they left the abandoned bus in the middle of the field.

MNPS spokesman Joe Bass said they have replaced the damaged bus. The morning pickup route would not be affected.

Maplewood is scheduled to play Portland High School at 7 p.m. on Friday. It's unclear at this point if the game would be affected.

School resource officers have been alerted to the vandalism investigation. No arrests have been made in the case.
