A Nashville man has been charged after an arrest warrant showed he kicked his shirtless 5-year-old son out of the house.
According to reports, 34-year-old Jose Rivera Jr. has been facing a child neglect charge in connection with Monday's incident.
The warrant showed officers responded around 8:45 a.m. after someone reported seeing a shirtless child wandering neighborhood streets.
The boy, who only had on shoes, pants and carried a blanket, told police that his father told him to leave the house.
Officers walked the child to his home, where Rivera told police that he had been sleeping and thought his son was watching television.
The suspect was taken into custody. The child was placed in his mother's custody.
It's unclear whether Rivera had an attorney to comment on the charge.
