Many residents in Madison were still without water Thursday morning, nearly 24 hours after a main broke.

Authorities confirmed Wednesday that crews were working to repair a 16-inch water main that had burst.

The affected customers were in the Neely’s Bend neighborhood, including the Hillcrest and Lanier area.

The general manager with Madison Suburban Utility District said if the water looks discolored, do not drink it.

It’s unclear when service would be restored.
