Williamson County Republicans came together for fun, food, and politics.

The organizer of the annual GOP Summer Barbecue expected about 200 people to show up, but ended up with a sold out crowd of more than 400 guests in Thompson's Station.

The event was a way for Williamson Country Republicans to meet and greet candidates for different offices.

Several state-wide candidates showed up to talk about issues, shake some hands, and eat barbecue.

The Williamson County GOP also hosted its first major Gubernatorial straw poll.

Bill Lee, owner of a heating and air conditioning company, won with 63 percent of the vote.

State Senator Mae Beavers came in second, followed by US Representative Diane Black, Speaker Beth Harwell, and Randy Boyd.
