A woman was injured in Mt. Juliet after her car crashed on the side of the road and caught fire.

The incident happened early Tuesday morning on Alvin Sperry Road.

Officials on the scene said the woman’s car went airborne at some point and ended up crashing into brush on the side of the road.

The vehicle burst into flames and spread to the grass, which caused a small brush fire.

Firefighters have since extinguished that blaze.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Her name was not known.
