A woman was killed and two children were injured early Wednesday morning in a fiery crash along Interstate 40 in Wilson County.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. at mile marker 236 on I-40 East.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said 27-year-old Leonna Strong seemingly drifted into the median before overcorrecting and flipping the vehicle. She was reportedly speeding at the time of the wreck.
She and two small children, girls ages 5 and 7, were ejected from the car before it caught fire.
Strong died at the scene.
The children were rushed to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
According to THP troopers, the children were not properly restrained in their seats at the time of the crash. They also said Strong was not wearing her seat belt.
All three of the victims were from Lebanon.
