A woman has posted bond and been released from jail after nearly hitting a police officer with her vehicle while fleeing.

Officials said the incident happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday at Cool Springs Galleria.

The suspect, 24-year-old Tanesha Shannon, was approached by officials who were investigating a theft.

They commanded her to get out of her car, but she fled.

While fleeing, authorities said she swerved toward an officer who was on foot ordering her to stop. There were no reports of injuries.

Shannon then evaded police in Brentwood who tried to stop her a short time later on Interstate 65.

Officials said they found her vehicle parked on University Court in Nashville. Shannon was arrested at her home on 12th Avenue not long after her vehicle was found.

She was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, felony evading, and driving without a license.

Officials confirmed she was released from jail after posting a $20,500 bond.

Shannon has been scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. January 17. Authorities said additional charges were expected.
