Some local heroes got a special send off for a once in a lifetime trip.

Members of the Murfreesboro Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol welcomed World War II veterans at Nashville International Airport early Sunday morning.

They escorted them to their gates before their Screaming Eagle Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

They will also welcome the veterans when they return home from the trip.

Honor Flight Network has been a non-profit organization that has transported veterans to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect on their memorials.
