Twelve Revolutionary War veterans buried in the Nashville City Cemetery were honored with a ceremonial wreath-laying.
The memorial Saturday was in cooperation with “National Wreaths Across America" day.
Members of the Andrew Jackson chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution headed the event and honored each vet with a wreath and a tolling of the bell.
It was just a small portion of appreciation they said those veterans deserve.
“We have the Bill of Rights, an independent supreme court, and a nation of free men, and we owe all of that to men like these twelve Revolutionary War soldiers,” said Sanford Payton, Sons of the American Revolution.
The Sons of the American Revolution said they hope to expand the wreath-laying program to include all veterans next year.
