Local independent pharmacies are beginning to carry CBD oil.

Dr. Todd Garrett, the owner of Franklin Family Pharmacy, recommends CBD oil for minor pain, anxiety, and as a sleep aid.

Dr. Todd Garrett said, "There was a gentleman in here just yesterday that said he had ongoing knee pain for years, and he tried several different things. He took CBD oil one night, the next morning he said he didn't have any pain in his knee anymore. Now I'm not saying that's the case with everyone, but he was very satisfied with the relief that he got from it."

Dr. Garrett also believes CBD oil might prevent people from becoming addicted to prescription pills.

Garrett said, "We're always looking for alternatives to using opioids."

He highly recommends consulting your doctor and pharmacist before taking it to make sure it mixes well with other medicine.

Garrett said, "The reason I say that is because CBD oil is also metabolized through the liver so theoretically, it could increase those drugs in your body."

Garrett said CBD oil has a stigma, but he's happy to see that patients have opened their minds to it.

Garrett said, "Marijuana has THC in it which is the component that gives you a high. CBD oil, by law, has to have less than 0.3% THC in it, which is such a tiny amount that it can't give you a high."

After doing some research, he decided to sell the Charlotte's Web brand because he believes the measurements are exact. It costs anywhere from $40 to $150 at his pharmacy at 400 Downs Boulevard in Franklin.

Garrett said, "We think that they are unmatched and unparalleled in their quality."

After consulting your doctor and pharmacist, Dr. Garrett recommends trying very small amounts of CBD oil to help with pain, sleep, and anxiety.
