Williamson County Schools Director Dr. Mike Looney has issued a statement, apologizing for not delaying school during severe weather.
Several school systems in Middle Tennessee either delayed or canceled classes Wednesday morning as severe storms prompted tornado warnings and caused damage across the area.

In a statement, Looney said officials “expected it [weather system] to arrive later” in the morning. He added that the district is reviewing its communication protocols with emergency management officials.

Metro Nashville Public Schools opened on time, but said in a Tweet that students would not be considered tardy due to the weather concerns. Click here to see full list of closings/delays.
