They don’t call it Music City for nothing. Lyft is cutting musicians a break when it comes to getting downtown to perform in Nashville.

Starting Wednesday, the rideshare app is providing free and discounted rides to music makers heading to Lower Broadway.

The official musicians' rides announcement will be made from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Legends Corner.

This will benefit members of the Nashville Musicians Association who apply. The agreement will include two free rides to or from Lower Broadway and additional discounted rides.

Lyft's Nashville corporate office is located in the heart of the District on 2nd Avenue North – it's the largest Lyft office outside the company's headquarters in San Francisco.

The company said employees can actually hear music from Broadway from their offices. Now the musicians who play that music will be able to get with a few extra bucks in their pocket.

Lyft has a similar deal with select venues in Austin, Texas through its Austin Musician Rideshare Program, but Nashville's agreement will cover any Local 257 member who applies for the program and who performs at any venue in the Lower Broadway District.
