Magnitude 3.1 Earthquake Reported In East Tennessee

The United States Geological Survey confirmed a magnitude 3.1 earthquake was felt in East Tennessee.

The earthquake happened at 5:22 p.m. central time Sunday, slightly more than four miles northwest of Morristown.

Damage was not expected from this earthquake. A magnitude 2-3 earthquake is described as having weak shaking and usually no damage.

However, several hundred people in that area have reported feeling the earthquake Sunday evening.
